New Programmes 2019-2020

Master of Science in Public Health (MScPH)

The University is pleased to inform the general public that it has resumed to recruit students for the Master of Science in Public Health (MScPH) from this academic year 2019/2020. Enrolled students will study for 18 months. Entry qulifications for MScPH are:

Doctor of Medicine (MD) or equivalent, BSc. Nursing, BSc. Environmental Health, BSc. Laboratory Technology or equivalent, Doctor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Pharmacy or equivalent. Nurses and Pharmacists must have obtained at least lower second class.

Graduates of a recognised university with at least upper second class in health-related fields of study such as Sociology, Anthropology, Health Statistics, Health Economics, Epidemiology, Demography, Biology, Nutrition, Food Science and Health Information Sciences.

Working experience with communities in health-related fields at a district or higher level would be advantageous.

Social Work

HKMU has been granted approval by the National Council for Technical Education (NACTE) to run Diploma and Certificate programmes in Social Work from this academic year 2019/20. Enrolment procedures for the two programmes are as follows:

Entry Requirements for Basic Certificate (NTA level 4) in Social Work

Applicants for Basic Certificate in Social Work (NTA Level 4) must have the following minimum qualifications:

  • Certificate of secondary education with minimum of FOUR PASSES excluding religious subjects.
  • National Vocational Award (NVA) level 3 (with at least 3 passes of CSE)

Entry Requirements for Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Social Work

  • NTA level 4 in Social work.
  • Advanced Certificate of Secondary Education with at least one principal and subsidiary pass excluding religious subjects.
  • Technician certificate in Social work-related occupations

Entry Requirements for Ordinary Diploma (NTA Level 6) in Social Work

  • Technician Certificate (NTA Level 5) in Social work
